The Opening Ceremony, the Olympic moment of Cortina

In parallel with the official opening ceremony of the a7> Olympic Games Winter in Milan Cortina 2026, scheduled for 6 February at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo will experience its own Olympic moment, highly symbolic and participatory.

In the heart of the village, in Piazza Angelo Dibona, the lighting of the Olympic brazier of Cortina is scheduled, a gesture with strong symbolic value that will carry the flame of the Games in the heart of the Dolomites. A moment of celebration open to the community, guests and athletes, marking the official entry of the Queen of the Dolomites into the Olympic era. The square will also host various institutional welcome and representation events, with the participation of athletes and delegations involved in the competitions hosted in Cortina. An opportunity to experience the spirit of the Games up close and share Olympic values in an urban space that is transformed into a place of encounter, celebration and collective identity.

This event does not replace the official Opening Ceremony, but complements it, making the widespread nature of the Milan Cortina 2026 Games visible and tangible. An Olympics that lights up in multiple locations, involving the territories and communities that are the protagonists of the event.
