Winter Olympic Games: 6 February – 22 February 2026 | Winter Paralympic Games: 6 March – 15 March 2026

The Opening Ceremony

The Light of Inclusion: Cortina lights up the Paralympic dream. In parallel with the official Opening Ceremony of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, scheduled for 6 March at the Verona Olympic Arena, Cortina d'Ampezzo is preparing to experience its own moment of profound participation and pride. The Queen of the Dolomites will not only be a spectator, but also a protagonist in a ritual that will ideally unite the entire country under the banner of Paralympic courage and determination. The evening will kick off at 8 p.m. in Piazza Largo Poste, where the community, guests and fans will gather in front of a giant screen to watch the live broadcast of the ceremony from Verona. It will be a moment of collective gathering to share the excitement of the first official steps of the Games, transforming the urban space into a veritable open-air arena. The climax of the celebration is expected at 10 p.m., when attention will shift to the beating heart of the town, Piazza Angelo Dibona. Here, in perfect synchronisation with what will be happening in Milan, the Cortina Cauldron will be lit. This gesture has immense symbolic value: the Paralympic flame will once again shine among the peaks of the Dolomites, marking the beginning of a time when sport breaks down all barriers.

The closing Ceremony

On 15 March 2026, the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium will be the beating heart of the Closing Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. It will be a moment of great emotion in which athletes, spectators and local communities will celebrate sport, inclusion and the extraordinary beauty of the territories hosting this historic edition. Cortina d'Ampezzo, with its long Olympic tradition, is the ideal place to bring this adventure to a close. The Closing Ceremony will be a moment of celebration and reflection, where the performances of the athletes will be joined by the participation of the public, celebrating the emotions experienced during the Games and leaving a legacy for the future of the Paralympic movement. Cortina d'Ampezzo, the 'Queen of the Dolomites', will thus be the ideal stage for an event that combines sport, nature and culture in one great emotion.
